Johnny Salta goes Pro!

Victoria Skimboards is pleased to announce that once esteemed amateur rider, Johnny Salta, has now joined the professional skimboarding ranks. His first professional contest was the Cabo Clasico held at Solmar Beach in Cabo San Lucas over the weekend of May this last May 19th and 20th.

Johnny has been skimboarding with a majority of the top professionals of the sport in his hometown of Laguna Beach and felt the time was right to make the change. “The pros push each other so much and I am ready to be a part of it” stated Johnny.

Hobie retail mural in Laguna Beach

“A Day In The Life Laguna Beach” is a public art project that master sculptor Randy Morgan has envisioned and is to be gifted to the community. It is a bronze bas-relief sculptured mural 40 feet by 12 feet in the classic old world style. Randy’s vision for this piece pays tribute and homage to the rich ocean heritage and waterman culture pf Laguna Beach.

The finished piece will be placed on the Hobie building in downtown Laguna Beach. The art has been approved and accepted by the city of Laguna Beach and will be presented in April 2012. To see Tex Haines involvement in the project, check out the website @ http://adayinthelifelagunabeach.com/

Run Mark, Run

Victoria Skimboards team rider, Mark Mills took first place in the senior mens event in Dewey Beach. Mark is down to fighting weight, running into foot deep water for his takeoffs, and riding a specialized full nosed, 1″ thick, flat rocker bomber with extra heavy, titanium reinforced internal flex amplifiers, and a single molecule of Chris Henderson. They didn’t stand a chance!

Congratulations Mark!
