Freeway closure during the Victoria WCS July 16-17, 2011
For those of you that will be traveling south on the 405 Freeway that live north of Los Angeles or in Los Angeles for the Victoria Skimboards World Championship of Skimboarding, please note the following:
“Public safety and transportation officials warn the public to avoid the 405 Freeway between Interstate 10 and the Highway 101 over the weekend of July 16-17 during its 53-hour closure. A 10-mile stretch of the freeway will be closed to demolish half of the Mulholland Bridge in the Sepulveda Pass in order to build a new, wider bridge and a car pool lane on the freeway.”
If this could affect your ability to get to the contest and be at your heat on time, please make preparations as we cannot hold heats open on account of highway work. Thank you for the understanding.

Chris Splendore to Sri Lanka
Here is a post from our own, Chris Splendore……….
Hey what’s up!!?
Floridian VIC Team Rider Chris Splendore here to tell you about an adventure I’m partaking in!!! I’m going to Araguam Bay, Sri Lanka on May 16th, 2011 and will be there for about 18 days. The trip has been 2 years in the making and my roommate Tad Mask has been frothing about this place for years! The potential for skim is definitely there. Where we are staying is a huge bay with what looks like nice sand and a good slope. With a 92% swell consistency for this time of year, we are looking good for scoring swell. Both of us wanted to go way off the ‘beaten path’ and get somewhere we could explore unproven breaks. I am sooo stoked for this trip! Got my new VIC poly/carb/epox and I’m ready to hit it!! Will be updating pics and vids on www.victoriaskimboards.com throughout the trip so get ready!!
……….be ready for more pictures and video of Chris’ trip to Sri Lanka.
