Victoria Skimboards is pleased to announce that once esteemed amateur rider, Johnny Salta, has now joined the professional skimboarding ranks. His first professional contest was the Cabo Clasico held at Solmar Beach in Cabo San Lucas over the weekend of May this last May 19th and 20th.
Johnny has been skimboarding with a majority of the top professionals of the sport in his hometown of Laguna Beach and felt the time was right to make the change. “The pros push each other so much and I am ready to be a part of it” stated Johnny.
We look for good things to come from Johnny in the near future and are excited to have him as a professional athlete. Congratulations Johnny and best of luck as everyone will be gunning for you!
Victoria Skimboards is pleased to introduce some new limited edition artwork for your skimboard. These are “one-offs” which means that once we sell the first one, you will not be able to get another at this time. That does not mean we will never have it anymore but for now we only have one of each art design.
Everything is up and ready in the online store for you to place your order so please check it out at: Victoria Skimboards Online Store Limited Edition Artwork.
Thanks and enjoy!
The Green Eggs & Am contest series concluded this last weekend (April 29, 2012) at West St. in Laguna Beach. Johnny Salta took second place in his division but was a winner on courage alone. Johnny had to get stitches in his head during the contest and decided that he wanted to “go for the gold” and continue to compete. With stitches and Speedo swim cap in place, Johnny jumped back in the water and gave Ken Suzuki all that he could handle. Tied at the end of the heat, the contest organizers had to go back on the judge’ scoring sheets and count back a few waves in order to break the tie. Ken squeaked out a win over Johnny but again, the warrior came up strong and we give him props. There are not many people that would continue to compete with stitches.
Congratulations to all Victoria Skimboards riders that participated in the series and to Johnny for his finish at West St. and Nolan Rodgers for his “Trifecta” performance (best overall through the contest series with a 2nd at Balboa, 1st at Aliso and 3rd at West).
Nolan Rodgers is an active young man with a great family supporting his endeavors. From snowboarding to skimboarding to skateboarding to soccer, you name it and it seems that young Nolan is all over it. For instance, here is a video clip put together by Nolan’s father of Nolan at Mammoth Mountain a few weeks ago. Since the snow season this year was not everything we all hoped it would be, this little video might make you nostalgic. Enjoy!
Vic team rider Matthieu Thibaud graced the pages of the Laguna Beach Magazine in the April 2012 issue. Discussing everything from his skimboarding beginnings to his travels to the United States and his current life in the US, Matthieu weaves a tale of following your dream and succeeding through hard work and dedication.
Check out Matthieu’s article in the Laguna Beach Magazine which is on stands now. His article begins on page twenty four (24).

Round two of the Green Eggs & AM event series took place at Aliso Beach over the weekend of March 31, 2012 and April 1, 2012 (yes, April Fools Day) and the surf was UP to say the least. A large swell kicked through over the weekend along with some ominous weather but the competitors still showed up with their game face on.
We want to give a special shout out to Nolan Rodgers on his first place win in the beginners division. He was charging waves over his head and pulling them off. Congratulations to Nolan and to all of the other Victoria riders that competed in the event.
Look to the Green Eggs & AM website or Facebook for results and updates. The final event looks to be at West Street on April 29, 2012.
The Green Eggs & AM contest series started this last weekend up in Newport Beach. Put on each year by Paulo Preitto, the Green Eggs & AM is a great contest series for amateur skimboarders to get ready for the contest season. Full results of the contest will be available soon but Victoria’s Matthieu Thibaud took some pictures and did get results of the Advanced division. A shout out to Johnny Salta for taking 1st place in the Advance division beating out Zane Waysz, Kenneth Suzuki, and Jeremiah Sheldon and then to Nolan Rodgers for taking 2nd place in the Beginner division.
The next event will be West Street on March 31, 2012.
Skimboarding is fun and that is the bottom line. Our friend Tony Bianchi filmed and edited some of the guys at the Wedge in Newport Beach, CA. Take a look and enjoy!
