Victoria Skimboards Company day at the Beach

Friday, June 6th marked a beach day for the employees of Victoria Skimboards. Aliso Beach was the destination and no one was safe. From the Shipping Department to the Sales Department, waves were had by all. What can we say – we work hard and play hard. We hope you enjoyed the sunny day as much as we did!

South Side Shootout ’08

Hey, this is jack Saunders and i just gotta say the contest this year was so good. Waves were hollow, right on shore and thick and heavy. It was good to see everyone from out west come to an eastcoast contest for once. Haven’t seen that many west coasters at an eastcoast event in like 5 years. As for myself, I got through to the final with brickle. Thats when of course high tide hit since we were the final heat for the day. He finished 4th i placed 3rd in Mens. Overall great contest. Everyone needs to go next year. Hoping to see everyone at NC.

South Side Shoot Out, DE, UST contest #2

The UST contest #2 of the season was at Dewey Beach, DE, May 31-June 1st.
The conditions on Saturday were decent, a little bit windy but definitely some fun liners.
On Sunday, the conditions were really good: Offshore wind all day long, chest-high waves. It was a really good skimboarding show on the beach: Barrels, Liners, Tricks…
Results of the Pro Division:
1. Bill Bryan
2. Paulo Prietto
3. Jaime Lovett
4. Brandon Sears
5. Morgan Just
6. Brandon Rothe
Here are a couple of pictures of the contest:

The contest was a real success, once again thanks for the good organization (Skim USA, Skimcity, Alley-oop skim camp, Bethany Surf Shop …)
Next contest is Long Beach Island Skim Jam, Barnegat Light, NJ

UST Weekend

The first stop of the United Skimboard Tour (UST) went down this past weekend in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Lover’s Beach. Cabo is located on the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula and a lot of the pro riders made the trip. Here’s a few pics from the weekend…

Bogue Banks, NC contest 08

The trip started with Scooter ‘storyeller’ Hayes premiere of his movie “LAGOONIES” in Wilmington, NC. The movie is about his 3 year stay in Laguna Beach, CA, where he was the head of the shipping department at Victoria Skimboards. Just one word: HILARIOUS.
Not only funny, but also good quality of image, really good clips…
The video by itself is 30 min long, but there’s a lot of “bonus”.
Everybody in the theatre were laughing hard for about an hour long.
We cannot wait for the Premiere in Laguna.
Scooter also ended WINNING the contest in his category “master”.
SO… Congratulation to Scooter for both his video and his performance.
The conditions were NOT the best to skimboard (small wave and strong wind) but everybody did their best to keep the good show on the beach.
Concerning me (Matthieu), I kind of expecting it… But my heel (that I hurt pretty bad at Aliso a week ago) didn’t hold for the contest. The pain was really present and did not allow me to skim good enough to pass 🙁
Now I have 2 weeks to take it easy and recover for next contest.
However the week end was A LOT of fun!!!
Big thanks for Skim USA for the good organisation again

PS: Some pics are coming as soon as I got back to Cali

Cabo Contest 2008

Greetings everyone from the Victoria Skimboards crew in Cabo San Lucas. So far the trip has been a good one with some solid surf at Solmar. The contest has been pushed back to Saturday and Sunday instead of Friday and Saturday. The reason for this is the swell is moving in on Saturday so we are all keeping our fingers crossed for some solid waves. Till then, here is a quick shot of Koty killing one of the Solmar waves in some warmer than not water.
