Tex was down at Aliso early, coffee and donuts in hand as always, watching the sets roll in before most people had even thought about getting out of bed. The slope was steep, the swell was showing up right on time, and by 9am the beach was alive.
The kind of morning that doesn’t need much explaining. You just had to be there !
Tex got some great rides in – clean lines, the kind of relaxed power that only comes from 50 years of reading waves at this beach. Watching him ride is a reminder that skimboarding at Aliso isn’t just a sport, it’s a lifestyle that this place has been built around since 1976. He knows every slope, every break, every shift in the sand. Aliso is his home, and it shows.
The crew showed up one by one, boards under their arms, grabbing coffee before waxing up. Pros, ams, beginners – everyone sharing waves, trading tips, cheering each other on. That’s what the Saturday Sessions have always been about. No entry fee, no judges, no pressure. Just good people, good waves, and hot coffee from Tex.
