El Nino has been battering Northern California and we have been reaping the rewards. With half the state seeing huge swell and weather with it, we have been enjoying slightly smaller swells with perfect weather, some would say hot, in the middle of winter. This last Saturday the crew packed it down to ninth street in South Laguna to enjoy a Saturday morning that was on par with the dog days of summer. Although the waves weren’t “quote unquote” firing, we had a blast enjoying the conditions on hand. The sider that shows up only on the rarest occasions had moments of brilliance as Teddy Vlasis, Johnny Salta, and Paddy Mack connected a few fun ones. Joe Baily, resident badass photog, was in the water shooting the boys and got a few good ones that have been circulating social media. With the forecast calling for more hot weather and waves, the skim community in Laguna is frothing to get a couple epic sessions in before El Nino makes its way down the coast.

The previous storms have flatten the beaches in Laguna, so it was breaking a little bit far out, but it’s always fun to go out and skim all together on a nice Saturday morning.

The sand has moved a lot with the few storms that hit Southern California last week. There was also a significant left over swell. Initially at Aliso, the Session moved to the next beach on the South called Camel. There were some fun ones there for pros Teddy Vlasis and Johnny Salta to catch!

We decided to wait the end of the day for the tide to drop, so we meet up at Aliso at 3pm. The conditions were beautiful, some siders, wraps and airs. Johnny Atoe, Max Bourne, Jared Green, Ryan Ward, Brad Dickey and many more were skimming together and had lots of fun.
